It's 1 AM at night,we are bored and hungry. So what do we do?We talk a walk.
Well, not just any walk.Me and bro are looking for a 24 hour store. We live in GK,there must be one around here somewhere. Now Delhi isn't really safe and my hair is really long.Ok,I lied. It's not really long but it's long enough for people to mistake me for a girl.So there are a couple of things freaking me out.The first thing is drunk drivers.Thankfully, there are none to entertain us along the way.And the second is what if someone mistakes me for a girl.
There was no point in checking Kailash Colony, since Kailash Colony shuts down by 10 PM.So we were forced to check out the stores on the main road. After walking half a kilometer,we find the first one closed. Our hopes are pinned on a pharmacy, which is just a few steps away. But we can't tell if it's open. And we can't tell whether there will be anything of our interest in the pharmacy.Thankfully, the pharmacy is open.
But entering the pharmacy,we aren't going to find any snacks...none of our choice.I walk up to the counter and ask the guy if he has any cold-drink.He nods.I ask him for a couple of Pepsi bottles. He nods again, takes a stool, climbs up and starts looking over at the top shelf.Meanwhile,I don't find this even a bit amusing because the top shelf is filled with boxes of lactogen. He gets back down, moves to another shelf, picks up a bottle of Colin and puts it in front of me. I stare at him silently for a moment and then I tell him that I wanted a cold drink, not Colin. He seems in his senses as he laughs and tell me that he they don't keep cold drink.Which makes me wonder, since when did Colin come in Pepsi flavor?
As we cross the road,a car slows down and a guy stares at me,as he passes by,from inside the car.Not the only victim tonight. Not the first either. Not the first to mistake me for a girl, that is.Which makes me wonder, what if there really was a girl in my place.
Not satisfied with the pack of Real Juice we bought from the pharmacy,we decide to take a chance and check if Sanjha Chulha is still open. Our luck,it is open.We order a couple of Mutton Seekh Rolls. My wallet is now a lot lighter than it was just fifteen minutes ago. And it wasn't very heavy then either. So I start dreading buying the pack of Real juice.Somehow, mutton roll and real juice is not a combination that I fancy.I am sure I wouldn't be doing any shopping the rest of the night,we buy a mountain dew. Our order takes some time as the mutton roll isn't available,so we opt for chicken roll instead. But it's DEFINITELY worth the wait.
We go back home, trying to get back inside as quitely as possible.See we didn't tell anyone that we were going out,as everyone was sleeping. So there was no point in disturbing them.I try to be as quite as I can be but my door lock thinks otherwise.Thakfully,no one hears a thing. No worries though, they will hear about it in the morning anyways.

Why didn't the NOIDA(U.P.) Police check the terrace on the previous day?
Sunday, May 18, 2008
Because they were too busy rounding up youth in Ghaziabad for no reason at all.
A couple of days ago,I was in Ghaziabad for a friend's birthday. A friend and I were walking along the street when without no reason at all a policeman held me by my arm and asked me if I had a minute.I asked him why but he said "aap bas chaliye". As his hold on my hand was still, there was nothing I could do but go with him. He took me to another police officer who had been sitting a few paces away from us. This man was talking to a couple of guys who were probably as old as me, give or take a year or two. When we reached the stop, the policeman who was with me rushed these two guys away and literally "showed" me to the other police officer. So this fat guy starts interrogating me about who I am and what do I do, why was I in Ghaziabad, where do I study and similar stuff. When they asked me where I was from, I said Delhi(not Dilli) at which these policemen started laughing.
Irked slightly,I asked them what the problem was. He said that I (as in me) am young but why can't I live normally. Upon seeing my slightly raised brow he started explaining to me that I shouldn't keep long hair. Reason? None really. It's just because these police officers don't like it. He repeatedly said "jawaani hai, yeh kya kar rakha hai?".Not very impressed, I walked away even as they told me stop.
My friend and I were discussing the issue on a rickshaw later. More specifically we were discussing how could policemen stop people without any reason. At this point, the rickshaw walla turned his head and said to me that probably they stopped me because I have long hair. So I believe this is a common practise in Ghaziabad (Though now that I think of it, we might have dropped a hint about it in our conversation and the rickshaw walla was just trying to rub some
salt on burnt wounds). Though I am not sure about the long hair part i.e. whether or not youth are allowed to keep long hair in Ghaziabad but there is one thing I am certain about. A bunch of policemen in Ghaziabad do pass their time by rounding up youth for no reason at all. It's just for time-pass. When I passed the same area a couple of minutes later, I saw that there were some couple of other youths being interoggated (or lectured) by the policemen now.
My friend later asked my why doesn't anyone complaint about such things. I guess it's because the people there are scared of the police. Nothing wrong with that but my point is different. See, I walked away because I knew that there was no reason with which these guys can stop me. Besides I am not going to see these guys over and over again, so no risk of permanent damange. On the other hand, a resident of Ghaziabad may not be so lucky. So if that resident bends in front of the police officer then it's unlikely he will go up and complaint. However, I don't believe that allows the policemen to judge what is right and wrong for the youth.
Conclusion? Should I cut my hair? No,I don't think I will be visiting Ghaziabad anymore. Kidding, I will probably say hello or get these guys a gift the next time I am in Ghaziabad. They will let me off without a lecture maybe. But remember children, next time you see a mistake being commited by the police in UP,remember the reason - they are busy rounding up the youth in Ghaziabad.

My first original work in Photoshop
Friday, April 18, 2008
Well here's my first la originale in Photoshop. So here's what I did(not in much detail):
1)Inspired by a friend,I set out to make a band poster.I found this image of the metal group Megadeth.
2)See those hands at the bottom of the screen,I thought I would remove them.So I applied Clone Stamp Tool and removed those hands.
3)I was going to write Megadeth in the foreground but then I had a different idea.I used Clone Stamp Tool again and removed all the band members from the stage. And edited a bit of the background. The background bit didn't work out so well though.
4)I then searched for a photo of Dave Mustaine performing in some concert, any concert. It was just the action that mattered.
5)I selected the body outline of Mustaine and pasted it in a new layer.
6) I then the outlines of his body and added some blur to it.Not satisfied with the output,I converted it into black and white. And BINGO!!!
More to come?Let's see.

About last night...
Saturday, March 15, 2008
Picked up the newspaper today and flipped through the pages real fast, looking for a photo of the Rock Fest that was held last night at Bangalore.Didn't find any,not even a small news item about it.I then flipped through the news channels and again there was no news about the concert.Which makes me wonder if there was a concert at all.I remember news channels showing large chunks of the Shakira concert as well as the build-up.Even Aerosmith and Roger Waters got a pretty good follow up.But by some co-incidence I haven't had the opportunity to get a glimpse of yesterday's concert.Been oddly quite.Which makes me wonder if there was a concert at all.

A Twist In My Tale
Sunday, February 10, 2008
It was painful, very fucking painful. When the ankle twisted,I thought I was a goner. The cringing feeling,I knew I had imagined the cracking sound in my head but I could but that my ankle was broken. The sad part was that no one had even noticed that I was still lying on the ground, for I could hear argument whether my opponents had scored or not.And I had fallen in the opponent's half while trying to get the ball.
Anyways,I dragged myself to the nearby bench.Consolation wasn't nice."Atleast,you didn't pull a muscle".I wish I could cry.
I managed to get back home fairly easily. My leg didn't pose any trouble.Put my leg in hot water for some time and then put a crepe bandage around the ankle portion. But at night it got really painful. So as I lay wide awake,I plotted my plan of action for the next day.Point 1 was that I wouldn't go to college.Point 2 was that I would see a doctor, which meant I would be visiting my relatives as well.
The good news was that I hadn't broken my ankle or my leg for that matter.Just ruptured a muscle in the ankle portion and it wasn only a minor injury.I would recover in a week. But for precaution,I was sent to get a X-ray.The doctor there,in between singing tamil songs, asked questions as if he was stating a fact.
"Hmm,twisted the leg."
Actually that was a question,I thought he was telling that to me.
"Twisted the leg?"
Me:"Huh,uh yeah."
It's worth mentioning that I had already told him that I had twisted my leg.Anyways,X-rays didn't show anything. So no need for plaster.Crepe bandages and painkillers would do.And after two days,my leg is OK.Still a bit of pain but fine otherwise.I can twist it and walk easily.
